Potowomut Golf Club has steadily progressed from humble and historic beginnings to a family-oriented golf and social club of unrivaled reputation.
Once an Native American campsite and later the Paul Greene Dairy Farm, the land was leased from R.H.I. Goddard in 1927 and in 1945 a purchase agreement with Mr. Goddard was finalized.

Course Tour
![]() | Hole 1 Description: Clover Leaf On this challenging starting hole, a tee shot avoiding the fairway bunker sets up a mid-iron or hybrid approach. Wide open in front, the green is bunkered left and right. |
![]() | Hole 2 Description: Little Bend On this dogleg left a well placed shot that finds the right side of the fairway will provide an open shot over the water hazard to the largest green on the course. |
![]() | Hole 3 Description:Cedars The shortest par three on the course features a small green that is surrounded by bunkers. Stay below the pin on this severely sloped green whenever possible. Par is a great score! |
![]() | Hole 4 Description: The Plains This hole offers a good chance for birdie if you negotiate the trees on both sides of the tee area. Avoid the bunker guarding the right side of the green on your approach. |
![]() | Hole 5 Description: Big Sandy Accuracy off the tee makes this long par-four hole challenging. The tricky green is wide open in front but bunkered left and right. Sometimes it's best to play into the fairway short of the green. |
![]() | Hole 6 Description: Pine Alley You will earn your par on this hole as out of bounds looms down the left side, while the right side of the narrow green is guarded by a large bunker. |
![]() | Hole 7 Description: Key Hole This slight dogleg left favors the right center of the fairway. Driver may be too much club on his short par four as the ground slopes towards a fairway bunker on the right. Proper club selection on your second shot leads to a good chance for birdie. |
![]() | Hole 8 Description: The Hump This long par four requires a long, straight drive which still leaves a pretty decent approach into a large, sloped green. Back and left-center pin positions can lead players to bogey rather quickly. |
![]() | Hole 9 Description: Headwind A short, uphill, par five gives players the opportunity to reach the green in two after a long, straight drive towards the right side of the fairway. Things aren't so easy once you get there though. The green has a narrow opening in front and is a very deep. A cavernous bunker guards the right side. |
![]() | Hole 10 Description: Big Bend Starting the back nine with a downhill par five, players must be sure to aim their drive to the right side of the fairway. The approach to the layup position is heavily bunkered and the green guarded by bunkers, as well. |
![]() | Hole 11 Description: The Meadows Out of bounds protects the left side. The right side off the fairway is guarded by a large tree as well as a bunker. Approaches to this two-tiered green are challenging from all angles. |
![]() | Hole 12 Description: Hidden Waters The longest par three on the course requires a tee shot to the left of center to avoid a hidden water hazard, which is on the right. Out of bounds guards the back of the green, as well as the entire left side. |
![]() | Hole 13 Description: Hilltop A tricky short par four requires fairway wood or a long iron tee shot to the base of the hill. A blind second shot follows to a very small green. |
![]() | Hole 14 Description: Panorama This slight dogleg left par four offers the best view of the course. The center of the fairway is the best location for your approach. |
![]() | Hole 15 Description: Long Trail A drive to the right center of this fairway gives you your best chance to put the ball close to the green on your second shot. Be mindful on your approach as the green is guarded by a bunker on the right and slopes severely down on the back left. |
![]() | Hole 16 Description: Little Mesa This deceptive par three requires careful club selection. A deep bunker on the front right captures a lot of miss hit tee shots. A depression on the left captures wayward shots in that direction. A two-tiered green adds further challenges. |
![]() | Hole 17 Description: Ledges A strong tee shot down the middle benefits players as a large water hazard and a bunker looms on the right, while large trees guard the left side. Another deep bunker guards the right side of the green. |
![]() | Hole 18 Description: Waterloo A tee shot to the left side of the fairway is the best location for your approach over water. Be careful as driver may be too much here. Take enough club when hitting into this elevated green as a short shot may roll back down the hill towards you. |
